Are you 6 – 19 years old? Want to meet up and learn about film making every week? There is a class for you
You can be directing actors in your movie. Maybe you want to be one of those actors? Perhaps you want to write a film scripr, make props or costumes, learn about horror make-up? Then this is for you. Whether you want to be in front acting or presenting or behind on the camera, continuity or directing there’s a place for you.
You can let your imagination run amoke with the Green Screen Pop-Up studio and fly or be in a magical or fantasy land at the wave of your film makers clapper board. You could be Harry Potter, a space ship pilot, be in a haunted castle or on a pirate ship. These are just some examples, I’m sure you can think of plenty more. We can make simple props and costumes.
You will shoot film indoors and outdoors. Swansea has so much to offer, sea and sand, countryside, the castle, the town and much more. You’ll be working with the whole team of about 12-15 and in smaller groups of 4 or 5 making your own production. You’ll have a chance to learn and use all the equipment.
You will go out location hunting and finding a setting for your film. You will learn some acting with our drama leader. You will see what the director, videographer, clapper-board and continuity people do.
In groups of 4 or 5 you will think of a story, write a short script so you know what you will be doing and in what order. Then you will decide who will be responsible for directing and being in charge, who will have the headphones to listen for the correct sound, lighting if inside, and who will act. You’ll have a chance to do everything.
You will learn the different camera shots such as wide angle and close-up and the sequence you should show these for impact. Then you will start shooting your movie.
You’ll sit down and watch what you’ve filmed and then edit it, adding a tile and the end credits. So all your names will be on the film. If you’ve got a smartphone or camera take as many photos during filming as you wish, we’ll include them on our website.
There will be a Film Premier and the showing of your film. There will be a presentation ceremony for best film, best story, best acting, best teamwork and more. This will be at the end of the school term. You will be able to invite your family and friends can come and watch your film.
After 4 weeks attendance you will all get a polo-shirt with the SwanTV Film School log on the front and “Crew” on the back and each of you will be presented with an A4 certificate of competence after each film is completion. Each session will be on a regular day at a regular time. You need to bring a drink (water) comfortable casual clothes and have suitable shoes for when we go outdoors together with a suitable jacket should the weather suddenly change. If the weather is bad we will always work in the studio.
The School is being run at our studios, 34A Orchard Street, Swansea, SA1 1PE, the blue door by the pedestrian crosssing, marked Elysium, so easy to find. We’ll be there to welcome you.
