Is Vaughan Gething fit for the job?

There was much talk about sleazy with the Conservative party which Labour vigorously followed through claiming how  whistle clean they were themselves. I do hope and trust that the new Westminster Administration will govern with honesty and without the sleaze we have become accustomed to in recent years.

So it is with some concern that we read of the recent issues concerning the Leader of the Senedd, Vaughan Gething. Firstly whether he was ethically correct to accept a £200,000 donation  for his leadership bid from a company owned by a man prosecuted twice in the 2010s for environmental offences. Was that money drawn down from the £400,000 bank loan the company received from the Bank of Wales to build a Solar Farm that  no application has yet been made on, but which it claims  it intends to do so in the last quarter of 2024?

This followed by the sacking of minister Hannah Blythyn by Gething on evidence that he refused to disclose. He firmly stated that there was evidence  a photo of her phone had been sent to an online newspaper which published a story that triggered her dismissal, evidence that he refused to openly show. Nation Cymru, the online publisher, has since openly  stated that it was not Ms Blythyn’s phone that had sent the message. Where does this leave Vaughan Gething?

We must have transparent honest, ethical leadership in the Senedd. Is it time Vaughan Gething stepped down?
