Turning Ideas into Opportunities
Following our recent article discussing the growing national concern around NEET young people and the need for more practical pathways into work and opportunity, Swan TV is now developing a new idea designed to help young people build confidence, practical skills and real-world experience through enterprise and creativity.
The proposed project is called The Entrepreneur Challenge.
The concept is simple but powerful. Young people will be challenged to explore practical ways of earning income, building confidence and developing employability skills using low-cost or no-cost business ideas.
Participants would explore practical and achievable ideas such as podcasting, photography, social media services, community media projects, online selling, local service businesses, video production, digital content creation, event promotion and creative freelancing.
Importantly, the project is not simply about “starting businesses.” The real purpose is to develop the kinds of transferable skills that employers, organisations and communities value including communication, teamwork, problem solving, punctuality, initiative, confidence, responsibility and digital literacy.
Swan TV believes community media can play an important role in this process by combining creativity, enterprise, digital skills and local participation in a way that feels relevant and engaging to young people today. Swan TV have created and have a full programme ready to run and will be setting this out within the next two weeks. If you are a graduate, completed a college course, left school at 16 then this is for you if you are finding job seeking frustrating or impossible. or the support you receive unsuitable. You don’t need money or qualifications, just be motivated and we are verey motivating. Interested in this porogramme?? e-mail: ask@swantv.com
