Vision for Swansea
For many years, Swansea has been a city full of creativity, stories, talent and community spirit. Yet despite this, many local people, groups and organisations still struggle to access affordable media platforms, creative opportunities and positive local representation.
At Swan TV, we believe Swansea deserves its own dedicated Community Media Hub — a place where local people can learn skills, tell stories, build confidence, develop opportunities and create positive connections across the city.
The vision for the Swan TV Community Media Hub is simple: to create a community-focused media centre that combines local broadcasting, digital skills, training, creativity, enterprise and community participation under one umbrella.
The Hub would provide practical media and digital skills training for young people, adults, volunteers and community groups. It would support people interested in filmmaking, photography, podcasting, presenting, journalism, social media, live streaming and digital content creation.
One of the key strengths of the proposed Community Media Hub is that it would provide a genuine community platform for Swansea. Local charities, community groups, schools, creative individuals, volunteers and organisations would have opportunities to showcase projects, promote activities and share positive stories about the city and its people.
The intention is for the Hub to work collaboratively with organisations, partners and public bodies across Swansea while remaining community-led, creative and locally rooted.
This is a community project and we welcome anyone to become involved. If you have a hobby or particular interest and feel you would like to make a programme or even series then do get in touch.
